Introduce Skype callers

Microsoft Skype callers are all made available within the StudioPro interface as NDI sources.

Configuring Skype calling

Navigate to the Skype website and install the Skype application. Once installed. locate and open the Skype application from the desktop. Once open, you will need to login to an existing Skype account or register. It is strongly recommended that a new account is registered and dedicated to introducing Skype callers into StudioPro.

Once logged in you will now need to enable NDI usage. Select the mceclip7.png icon to open the menu, then select Settings. Select the Calling tab, then click Advanced. Locate ‘Allow NDI® Usage’ and toggle on. Once enabled you can also select the location of the Skype watermark.

Please note, that once this option is enabled, a banner will appear in your call notifying that the call is being broadcast.

Adding Skype callers into your scenes

Your Skype callers are added into your scenes using ‘NDI™ Source’ sources. Within the scene you would like to add a caller, select the mceclip12.png icon to add a new source, locate ‘NDI™ Source’ then click Add Source. Select Create new, then enter a friendly name for your source, e.g Caller #1 (Skype), then click OK. When the Properties dialog box opens, in the Source name, select the NDI output of the Skype caller, then click OK to add your caller. This process would need to be repeated to add all callers to your project.

When adding a single  Skype caller to multiple scenes, it is good practice to add your existing sources rather than creating a new source. To do this, within your scene, select the mceclip12.png icon, locate ‘NDI™ Source’ then click Add Source. Now select Add Existing and then select the name of the source added previously. This will keep all your previously configured settings and selected source for your caller.

Skype caller resolutions may change based upon the network bandwidth available, which may cause the sources to randomly resize within your scenes. To keep a consistent size within your StudioPro scenes, select the NDI Source of the Skype caller then click Transform > Edit Transform. In the Bounding Box Type, change to Scale inner bounds. You will need to repeat this step for all Skype NDI sources within your Project.
