We recommend leaving the Advanced Video settings unchanged. However, if you do make changes, please thoroughly test your project afterwards and reset the settings to default if you notice any unusual behaviour.
If StudioPro is showing unusual behaviour, instability, unexpected crashes, output issues, virtual camera problems, or stream failures, one of the first checks should be the Advanced Video settings.
Incorrect or changed video settings can affect rendering, colour conversion, capture performance, virtual cameras, outputs, and stream stability. In some cases, non-standard settings may cause behaviour that is difficult to diagnose.
Recommended default settings
Open StudioPro and go to:
Settings → Video → Advanced
Confirm the settings are returned to the default/recommended values:
| Setting | Recommended value |
| Renderer | Direct3D 11 |
| Color Format | NV12 |
| Color Space | 709 |
| Color Range | Limited |
These settings are suitable for most standard broadcast and streaming workflows.
When to check these settings
You should reset these settings if you experience any of the following:
- StudioPro running unusually slowly
- Random crashes or instability
- Outputs not behaving as expected
- Virtual camera issues
- Streams failing or showing abnormal video
- Incorrect colour, contrast, or black levels
- Unexpected GPU or render-related behaviour
- Video appearing washed out, crushed, or visually incorrect
Why these settings matter
The Renderer controls how StudioPro uses the graphics system. Direct3D 11 is the standard recommended renderer on Windows.
The Color Format affects how video frames are processed internally. NV12 is the most common and compatible format for streaming, recording, hardware encoding, and virtual camera workflows.
The Color Space defines how colour is interpreted. 709 is the normal standard for HD video.
The Color Range controls whether video uses limited or full range levels. Limited is normally recommended for broadcast and standard video workflows.
Validation after resetting
After resetting these settings, restart StudioPro and validate the setup by testing:
- Physical outputs
- Virtual cameras
- Streams
- Recordings, if applicable
Any external video or audio routing used by the system
This helps confirm that StudioPro is operating correctly after the settings have been restored.
