Viewing system statistics and information

To ensure high quality and troubleshoot issues like lag, stuttering, or dropped frames, StudioPro includes a built-in Stats Window. This feature gives users real-time insights into how StudioPro is performing, including CPU/GPU usage, rendering times, and network health.

To open the stats windows, you need to click the icon in the image below:

The Stats window will then appear.

Breakdown of StudioPro Stats Metrics:

 CPU Usage (%)

  • What it shows: How much of your CPU is being used by StudioPro.
  • Why it matters: High CPU usage (typically above 80%) can lead to encoding lag or system slowdowns.

Frames Missed Due to Rendering Lag

  • What it shows: The number and percentage of frames that StudioPro couldn’t render in time.
  • Cause: Often a GPU bottleneck or overloaded scene (e.g. many sources/effects).
  • Tip: Simplify scenes, lower graphics demands, and close GPU-intensive apps.

Frames Skipped Due to Encoding Lag

  • What it shows: Frames that were ready but couldn’t be encoded fast enough.
  • Cause: CPU or encoder overload.
  • Tip: Use hardware encoding, lower bitrate, or reduce output resolution.

Dropped Frames (Network)

  • What it shows: Frames lost during transmission to the streaming platform.
  • Cause: Poor or unstable internet connection.
  • Tip: Lower your bitrate, use a wired connection, or stream at off-peak times.

Output (Bitrate)

  • What it shows: Your real-time streaming or recording bitrate.
  • Why it matters: A fluctuating bitrate can indicate network or encoder instability.
  • Tip: Match bitrate to your upload speed. Use CBR (constant bitrate) for streaming.

Frames Per Second (FPS)

  • What it shows: Your current rendering frame rate (e.g., 30 or 60 fps).
  • Why it matters: If FPS drops below target, viewers will notice stuttering or lag.
  • Tip: Lower target FPS in StudioPro settings or reduce scene complexity.

Average Time to Render Frame

  • What it shows: Time in milliseconds it takes to render one frame.
  • Target:
    • <16.67 ms for 60 FPS
    • <33.33 ms for 30 FPS
  • Tip: If higher, reduce graphical load or close other GPU-heavy programs.

Memory Usage

  • What it shows: Amount of system RAM StudioPro is using.
  • Why it matters: Useful for identifying memory leaks or heavy scenes.
  • Tip: Avoid loading large media files into multiple scenes.

Use Stats to Troubleshoot in Real Time

When experiencing issues such as:

  • Laggy recordings
  • Choppy streams
  • Audio-video desync

The Stats Window can help pinpoint the source of the issue — whether it’s CPU, GPU, encoding, or network-related.
