Macros are a very powerful tool that allow to perform a single or a series of actions in QuickLink StudioPro, that will play after a defined trigger. For example, you may want to automatically start or stop streaming when a particular scene is in Program - this can be achieved using Macros.
There are many ways Macros can be used to achieve a number if different tasks in StudioPro. In this article, we will cover how to initially configure and enable Macros, and setting up a basic Macro.
To start, you will need to firstly access the Macros window. To achieve this, open the Settings window by clicking the icon on the bottom-left side of the interface.
Then select the Advanced tab.
Scroll to the very bottom of the page and click the Macros button.
Straight away there are a number of settings you can change in order to enable Macros. The Status section allows you to set some more general settings, like how often Macros checks conditions.
From here you can see if any Macros are active as well as manually starting and stopping Macros.
In addition, you have different options for whether you would like Macros to automatically start under certain conditions.
The rest of the General tab page is more specific, and can be customized depending on what you wish to achieve with Macros. Please review these to check through and make sure you have everything set up for the workflow you wish to achieve.
You are now ready to add your macros, select the Macro tab.
A useful thing to set up as a Macro on a hybrid event might be that when you go to a certain scene, ideally the first scene of the show, your project automatically starts streaming or recording or both!
To set this up firstly click the plus icon in the bottom-left to add a macro.
It's suggested you enter a friendly name for your Macro, as this will help you easily identify what your Macro is set to achieve. Click OK.
Now that you have a macro in place, you can add some actions, also known as triggers. Here you will enter your first condition. Click the plus icon to add a Condition.
In this example, I am selecting the Scene that I want to trigger the other actions I want to happen. This means that if the Scene (All guests) is the current scene, then the action will trigger.
Once you have set your trigger, you will now need to configure the action(s) you wish to be performed. In the Actions area below, click the Plus icon to add a action.
In this example that is being configured, we would like for both streaming and recording to start when the scene is transition to program, so we will add both those actions.
You can test your macro by clicking Run macro.
Head back to the General tab and make sure that Macros is active. Click Start if not.
As per this example, if we transition to the selected scene, streaming and recording will both start.
