Using StudioEdge you can very easily introduce Zoom callers into your productions.
Please note, if you are looking to add a Zoom Caller into your StudioPro workflow, please see the article, here.
NOTE: When incorporating a Zoom caller into StudioEdge, the Zoom meeting should be hosted and created on a separate control machine. Please avoid using the StudioEdge device for this.
The first thing you will need to do is log in to the StudioEdge portal and connect to the StudioEdge device you wish to use. If you are unsure on how to do this, please refer to the Quick start guide to QuickLink Studio Edge article.
Configuring a channel
Before initiating a Zoom call, you will first need to configure the inputs and outputs of the channel you wish to use. If you have already configured your channel, please skip to the Initiating a Zoom Call section.
To set the inputs you wish to return to your Zoom caller, select the SETTINGS tab.
In the Video Input dropdown menu, select a the SDI input you would like to use (1 to 4, or NDI) depending on your workflow. Once selected, your video return will appear in the bottom return preview window.
Next you will need to select your Audio Input.
Your SDI and audio outputs are pre-configured depending on the channel you are using. These are displayed in the Video Output and Audio Output boxes.
In addition to the SDI outputs, you can also configure to simultaneously output to NDI, to achieve this, simply toggle the NDI Output option.
Initiating a Zoom Call
To add a Zoom caller, click the call button ( ), then select Zoom.
Click on an available Meeting slot. Meeting slots that are available will say Disconnected.
From your separate control PC, within the Zoom meeting, copy the Meeting Link. This can be found by clicking Participants from the control bar, then clicking Invite, and finally selecting Copy invite link. Your Meeting Link will follow the format of; https://us05web.zoom.us/j/MEETING?pwd=PASSWORD.
Within the StudioEdge user interface, paste in the Meeting Link you just copied and click CONNECT.
Edge will then connect with your Zoom meeting, you will see a message box pop up asking you to approve recording. You will need to click Approve as this is part of how StudioEdge captures your guests. Without this, the solution will not work. The zoom client uses the record function to get access to the callers raw video. The raw video is then played out via SDI or NDI. At no point is the zoom video ever saved to a file. ***If you want to avoid this step please follow these instructions
You will enter the Zoom meeting, and a list of participants will appear. Select the Zoom caller you wish to assign to the channel.
Once selected, click ADD CALLER.
You have now successfully brought a Zoom caller into your StudioEdge workflow.
Repeat this process for as many Zoom, or other video conferencing callers you require.
