Initiating a StudioCall Call
The first thing you will need to do is log in to the StudioEdge interface (edge.quicklink.network) and connect to the StudioEdge device you wish to use. If you are unsure on how to do this, please refer to the Quick Start Guide to QuickLink StudioEdge article.
To add a StudioCall caller, click the call button ( ), then select StudioCall from the available platforms.
You are now ready to invite and manage your StudioCall callers. Visit the QuickLink StudioManager portal (quicklink.network) and log in with the same details you used to enter the StudioEdge interface.
Once signed in, you will be redirected to the StudioManager interface for introducing StudioCall callers. For an overview of this interface, please see the Overview of the QuickLink StudioManager user interface article.
On the left-hand side, you will find find your device list. Here you will see a device, i.e. QTX-XXXX-StudioCall-1. This is your StudioEdge channel. Please note, the -1 on the end of the device name represents the StudioEdge channel. In this example we are using Channel 1, but for StudioEdge channel 2, this would be QTX-XXXX-StudioCall-2. If you have assigned multiple StudioEdge channels to StudioCall, you will see multiple devices listed here.
You are now ready to invite your StudioCall caller. Select the arrow next to your account name in the top-left corner to expand the menu, and select Invite Guest.
Within the Guest invite pop-up, ensure the Single invite tab is selected.
Enter a Name for your guest, it is recommended that this name is friendly as this will be how the guest appears in your QuickLink StudioManager interface.
Next select the delivery method for your invite. The different delivery methods are as follows:
- Email: sends a URL via an email to an email address entered.
- WhatsApp: sends a URL as a message within the WhatsApp application to the mobile number entered.
- SMS: sends a URL within an SMS message to the mobile number entered.
- Link: generate a URL that can be easily copied and sent via any other communication methods.
The next option is to enter a duration (in hours) or start and end date for your guest invite. There are two methods of achieving this:
- Setting an expiry time in hours: set in hours to a maximum of 1000 hours. This automatically generates the start and expiry date/times.
- Start/expiry date: this method allows you to manually select a start and expiry date/time. This automatically generates the number of hours between the two dates. When selecting a start date and time for a future time/date, the guest invite will be sent out as soon as the guest invite is created but will not be active until the entered date/time.
The final option to to enable/disable the Assisted Mode feature. Assisted Mode is a step-by-step workflow that ensures you get the most out of your guest contributions. Through a series of instruction steps, your guest contributor is fully prepared, set-up and tested to go into a live environment. As part of these steps, your guest contributor is guided through enabling access to their camera/microphone, configuring their camera, microphone and speaker, and troubleshooting if necessary. The guest contributor also runs through a quick test call to check their network status and that they have the recommended upload speed required.
When you have completed all above steps, click Send to create and send your guest invite.
Once sent, a message will appear to confirm that your guest invite has been sent. For more in-depth instructions, other options, and bulk invitations, please refer to the Inviting guests via SMS, Email, WhatsApp or URL article.
When your guest joins, they will also appear in your device list alongside your StudioEdge device.
Pressing the settings cog alongside your guest will allow you to view and remotely configure your remote guests device settings, including setting their video and audio device, viewing a preview, and more. For full information on the available options, please refer to the Managing the settings of a contributor on a laptop/PC device and Managing the settings of a contributor on a mobile device articles.
