Antivirus & Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)

Antivirus & EDR Advisory for QuickLink Systems

At QuickLink, system performance and reliability are our top priorities. While our systems operate with Windows Defender enabled by default, we do not test or certify third-party antivirus or EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) solutions in combination with QuickLink products.

The use of any third-party security software is entirely at the customer’s own discretion and risk. Improperly configured tools can lead to degraded performance, particularly in real-time or high I/O workflows.

Best Practices for Antivirus & EDR Configuration

To help minimize the risk of interference with QuickLink systems, we strongly recommend the following guidelines:

  • Disable real-time scanning during active production hours
  • Exclude all QuickLink-related directories and data paths from antivirus/EDR scans
  • Test security configurations thoroughly in a controlled environment before deployment

⚠️ These recommendations are provided as general best practices and do not guarantee uninterrupted performance or system compatibility.

Recommended Exclusion Paths

Please configure your antivirus or EDR solution to exclude the following directories:

C:\Program Files\Quicklink
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Quicklink
C:\ProgramData\Quicklink
C:\Program Files (x86)\Quicklink

💡 Note: The most common cause of performance degradation is real-time scanning, especially when files are being written to disk. This is particularly impactful in high-throughput or latency-sensitive environments.

Using EDR Solutions

Although QuickLink does not officially support or test Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools, they may be used if properly configured:

  • Disable scanning during system operation
  • Apply the same exclusion paths as listed above
  • Monitor system performance after deployment to identify any impact

⚠️ Important: Misconfigured EDR tools can cause the same performance issues as antivirus software. Validate changes in a test environment before use in production.
