Adding audio sources in StudioPro

StudioPro can take audio from microphones, audio interfaces, Dante Virtual Soundcard and other audio devices connected to your system. There are two ways to add a device:

  • Audio Input: for most devices, including Dante Virtual Soundcard set to WDM. Use this if you're not sure which to choose.
  • ASIO Input Capture: for devices using an ASIO driver. ASIO is for audio inputs only.

Adding an Audio Input source

  1. Select the scene you want to add the audio to.
  2. Right-click in the Sources window and choose Quick Add Source, then Audio Input. You can also click the + icon in the Sources window and choose Audio Input.

Quick Add Source menu with the Audio Input submenu open

  3. Give the source a clear name, for example "Presenter mic" or "Dante 1-2".
  4. In the Device list, choose the device you want to use. Devices with more than two channels are listed in pairs, for example "DAW In 3-4", so choose the entry for the channels you want.

The new source appears in the Audio Mixer, where you can set its level.

Using the two channels of a stereo pair separately

Some devices, including Dante Virtual Soundcard set to WDM, deliver each pair of channels as one stereo input. To use the two channels separately:

  1. Add the same audio input to your scene twice.
  2. Open Settings (the cog icon) and select the Audio tab.
  3. Under Audio Bus, find both copies. Tick Mono for each, drag one copy's Balance slider fully to L and the other fully to R, then click OK.

Adding an ASIO Input Capture source

  1. Select the scene you want to add the audio to.
  2. Right-click in the Sources window and choose Quick Add Source.
  3. Point to ASIO Input Capture and choose your ASIO device.

Quick Add Source menu with the ASIO Input Capture submenu open

  4. Give the source a clear name.

The new source appears in the Audio Mixer.

ASIO is for audio inputs only. StudioPro can't send audio out through ASIO, so outputs such as IFB and return feeds need the device's WDM driver.

Using Dante for both inputs and outputs

Dante Virtual Soundcard runs either as ASIO or as WDM, not both at once. If you need Dante outputs from StudioPro, for example for IFB, set Dante Virtual Soundcard to WDM and add your Dante inputs with Audio Input.

Sending audio out

To choose which device StudioPro sends audio to, open Settings (the cog icon) and select the Output tab. Click the cog next to the output you want to change, choose the Output Audio Device, then click OK. Stop the output before changing its settings, or they won't save.

StudioEdge

StudioEdge doesn't yet fully support ASIO. Set Dante Virtual Soundcard to WDM when using it with StudioEdge.
