The room system is the method used to connect two devices together to start an audio/video bidirectional call. Generally, a Studio Server will always be present in a room.
Create a room by pressing the icon.
A room can be deleted by hovering over the room with your mouse pointer and clicking the icon located on the right of the room.
To edit the name and data rate and audio rate of a room, click the icon, enter the desired name, data rate and audio rate then click Save. The data rate is defaulted to 2 Mbps to ensure stability of streams. The maximum data rate for each individual room can be adjusted from 128Kbps up to 10Mbps depending on your knowledge of available internet bandwidth and your requirement for bandwidth allocation to each user. The audio date rate can be adjusted from 32Kb to 512Kb, also depending on your knowledge of available internet bandwidth and your requirement for bandwidth allocation.
The icons in the centre of the room allow you to mute a participant microphone by pressing the icon and stop their video by pressing the icon. To request the unmute of a participant press the icon, and to request the start a participants video pressing the icon. Once requested, a and icon will appear until accepted by your participant. Your participant will then receive a prompt to request the unmuting of the microphone or enabling of the camera.
Drag an available client or server from the available device list into the dashed area of a room.
To remove a device from a room, drag it onto the left side of the interface where the users and servers are listed. If the rating option is enabled, an additional option to terminate a users session will be available.
To initiate a call, drag a user/server from the left side of the interface, into a call. Once both spaces have been populated, the connection will automatically start and the status will change to ‘In Call’.
When two devices are placed into a room, a padlock icon will appear next to the room name allowing you to lock the room. To lock the room click the icon. When locked, the link automatically re-connects if the network connection is lost. The link will automatically be established as the room location is remembered.
To end the call, simply drag a device out of the room, or click the ‘In Call’ slider.
Warnings
A yellow warning icon will appear if there is more than 2% packet loss over a 20 second period. This warning will continue to appear if you are still experiencing packet loss but will disappear if the packet loss percentage decreases below 2% for a 20 second period again. This warning represents packet loss on the transmit side and could appear on either a guest or a server.
A red error icon will appear if the contributor is disconnected. This will only show for the contributor. If a contributor loses connection, the device will disappear from the QuickLink StudioManager.
Waiting/Distributor room
The Waiting/Distributor is a room where you can connect a number of users. Users can watch video from the presenter or watch the video whilst audio conferencing between the other users in the room. This room is ideal for a virtual waiting room, green room in a talk show/chat show, a webinar/web conference, remote production proofing or the broadcast of productions over an extranet.
If you do not have a Waiting/Distributor room showing on your QuickLink StudioManager portal, please contact the Sales team for pricing and setup.
To edit the name, data rate of a room and enable audio conferencing, hover over an empty room and click the icon. Enabling audio conferencing will allow all users in the room to hear audio from the other devices. Once finished, click Save.
To initiate a Distributor call, simply drag the sending device in the left-hand box. When a device is present in the room, the icon will start to flash, indicating that the connection to the cloud is made and in progress. Please note: with this type of room, no slider will appear to start a call, the call starts once the first device has been placed into the room.

Conference room
The Conference room is a room where 8 participants can be placed into a call to create a group conference. The default for this room is 8 participants, however can be increased to 24, please contact the QuickLink Sales team to discuss the number of participants. Independent video and audio can be pulled for each individual participant. In this room type, the contributor has the control of their view; tile view (all other participants tiled) or focused view (focus on any of the chosen participant).

To edit the name and data rate of a room, hover over an empty room and click the icon. The maximum data rate can be adjusted from 128Kbps up to 4Mbps. Please be aware there will need to be sufficient bandwidth for the call quality to be the highest possible.
To initiate a Conference room call, simply drag your participants onto the ‘Contributors’ line. To independently pull the video and audio of each participant, drag a Server channel below the participant on the ‘Playout Servers’ line. The arrow will turn green between the participant and server when receiving the video/audio and output to the output device configured in the server settings. Please note: when the first device is dropped into room, the call will initiate.
It is also possible to pull the video and audio of a participants screen share in the Conference room. To do this, drag a Server channel into the ‘Screen Share Playout’ on the far-left hand side of the conference room.
When in a Conference room call, you can mute a participant microphone by pressing the icon and stop their video by pressing the icon. To request the unmute of a participant press the icon, and to request the start a participants video pressing the icon. Once requested, a and icon will appear until accepted by your participant. Your participant will then receive a prompt to request the unmuting of the microphone or enabling of the camera.
It is also possible to mute all participants audio and stop all participants video within a Conference room. To mute all participants audio, press the icon next to the Conference room title. To stop all participants video, press the icon next to the Conference room title. When muting and stopping all participants video, a confirmation message will appear, press ‘Yes’ to confirm.
To remove a participant from a room, simply drag the device to the left side of the interface where the users are listed. Alternatively, you can remove all participants within a Conference room by pressing the icon.
The ‘Program Return’ feature will allow an input to be connected from a server. The return placed in ‘Program Return’ will appear in the Conference room larger than other participants.

Display logo
In a Conference room, it is possible to display a company logo for all participants in the Conference room. To upload your logo you will need to ensure your conference room is completely vacant. Hover your cursor over the Conference room, then click the icon to open the room settings, then select the ‘Display Logo’ tab. The maximum size for a logo is 300x150px. Supported formats are png, jpg, jpeg and svg.
Preview Window
Clicking the icon within the Conference room will open a Preview Window page allowing you to monitor all participants of your Conference room.
Once the Preview Window is open, click ‘Start Video Tiling’. From this window each participant within the conference room will be displayed in a tile. Clicking ‘Show Information’ will show key statistics on a participants data rate, received resolution, packet loss and received frame rate. If you would like to mute a particular participant, click the speaker icon below the preview. Alternatively, you can mute all participants by selecting ‘Mute All’ from the top-right of the interface.

Messaging
Within a Conference room, a messaging option is available to all participants. It is also possible to enable a messaging/chat feature within the QuickLink StudioManager which will enable you to monitor conference room messages and public message/private message participants.
To enable this option, firstly ensure your Conference room is empty. Highlight over your room and click the icon. In the room settings, check the box ‘Conference Room Chat’ to enable.
Once enabled, messages can also be accessed by the operator of the QuickLink Manager by selecting the icon next to the conference room name. Upon clicking the icon, a window will appear with all messaging history. To send a message to all participants, select the ‘Public Chat’ tab and type your message at the bottom of the screen, then enter to send the message. Attachments can also be sent to participants within the Conference room by selecting the icon. Public messages will appear in the chat in a green colour.
A private messaging can also be sent to a specific participant. This is done by selecting the required guests tab that you would like to private chat with. Again, enter your message at the bottom of the screen and press enter to send the message. Private messages will appear in the chat in a red colour.
Commentary room
The Commentary room is a room for distributing high-quality video and audio to up to 4 commentators, and independently pull audio for each individual commentator.
To edit the name and data rate of a room, hover over an empty room and click the icon. The maximum data rate can be adjusted from 128Kbps up to 10Mbps. Please be aware there will need to be sufficient bandwidth for the call quality to be the highest possible. Enabling audio conferencing will allow all devices in the room to hear audio from the other commentators. Once finished, click Save.
To initiate a Commentary call, simply drag your sending device in the left-hand box. When a device is present in the room, the icon will start to flash, indicating that the connection to the cloud is made and in progress. To independently pull the audio of each commentator, drag a Server channel below the commentator on the ‘Playout Servers’ line. The arrow will turn green between the commentator and server when receiving the video/audio and output to the output device configured in the server settings.
