If you have a Conference call and one of the contributors has a bad connection then Safe Mode will be automatically applied when a certain threshold of data and frame loss occurs. This mode is applied to an individual participant, meaning no other participants are affected. You can also apply this manually.
When enabling Safe Mode, the bandwidth is defaulted to 512Kbps, this can be further adjusted from 128kb to 4Mb – giving more control over the conference on an individual contributor level.
When this mode is enabled, the selected contributor pulls a lower quality stream of other participants.
You can apply a Bandwidth cap if you wish too.
The Bandwidth cap feature is also available to contributors in an active call in a Pro Room.
To enable this option, while the call is active, click the guest icon to open up the Settings window.
If their bandwidth is below 1mbps, a message will appear to say the bandwidth is too low to show a preview. This is a good indicator that the guest is on a network that is struggling.
To turn on a Bandwidth cap click in the box and type the Kbps you wish to cap the guest at and click APPLY.
You have now applied a bandwidth cap to this particular guest.
